When my husband and I first started coming to Benny's, the food was good but the cheese was always cheddar/jack and the salsas were never spicy. After a menu change several years ago, everything tastes more authentic. The quesadillas are amazing and made with jack cheese. The empanadas are full of flavor! The chicken is as good as it's always been. The burritos are fantastic and customizable.
If you want a place to sit down and eat, I cannot recommend Benny's enough. We normally love going to little local taco stands or outside of West LA for Mexican food but this place is a gem. -

Just outstanding. We came with a big group and all of us ordered various tacos and burritos and all agreed this is some of the best Mexican food of all time. The burritos especially were so flavorful and full of delicious ingredients (oppose to some burritos with mostly rice).
We also ordered churros, guacamole and enjoyed their fresh pressed watermelon juice. The prices are very reasons and the staff are really kind. The next time we're in LA we will for sure return! -

The California burrito is the best burrito I've ever had in the LA! I drive all the way from Long Beach to get some Benny's because the options out there are trash for bomb taquerias. So far I've have the chipotle chicken, carne asada, and el pastor, ALL of them are delicious! Trust me no taco truck, or Mexican food joint will have meat like Benny's. And for a dessert, get the churros! Damn those were a delicious ending to my cali burrito.
Best and biggest burrito I've ever had in LA.
Christian at the front knows his joint well and knows what food goes with the right flavors. Helped me out to order, and gave me a break down of what goes with what when I first tried Benny's. Really cool bro. His service and his team's service is excellent and a big reason why I keep coming back!
Will always be going to Benny's for my Mexican food fill. And will always recommend it to friends. -

My flight out of LAX was delayed for an hour, so I wanted a quick bite to eat, and Benny's looked promising. It was a quick 5 minute drive from the airport, and they have a small parking lot in back, which is a plus.
It's a counter service/table delivery place. They were friendly, and took my order quickly and efficiently. I ordered 2 tacos al pastor (my yardstick for all taco places), and 2 of their rotisserie chicken tacos. I lined up at the salsa bar, got some salsa verde, some pickled carrots, onions and jalapeños, and lime wedges.
I grabbed a table in the covered outdoor seating area, and my tacos came in about 5 mins. I don't mind waiting; to me, that says that they are actually cooking something, rather than just prepping in advance and delivering.
The tacos were generously filled, and served on house made corn tortillas. Unfortunately, the tortillas were limp; they did not appear to have been crisped on the comal or flattop, which might have improved them.
The al pastor was sadly lacking. It was pork, and had some bits of pineapple mixed in, but that's where the resemblance to authentic al pastor ended. The pork, like the tortillas, might have been improved by a visit to the flattop prior to serving.
The rotisserie chicken was tender, but relatively flavorless. Adding pickled veggies and salsa verde helped, but I've had more flavorful chicken at Boston Market.
There are too many great taco spots in L.A. for me to plan on a repeat visit to Benny's. -

I'll be back here for sure. I wasn't quite as impressed as I was expecting (maybe my expectations were just too high?) Nonetheless, it was very, very good.
I got the following 4 tacos:
- carne asada 3.5/5
- al pastor 4/5
- grilled shrimp 4.2/5
- barbacoa 3/5
There were three salsas at the salsa bar - loved all of them - a lot. Chips were good but not nearly enough.
Time to get food took maybe 10 minutes; a little longer than I would have expected for the type of restaurant. But it all tasted fresh and I wasn't in a hurry so no problems there.
Again, not 5 star, but I'll be back.
